Japan Travel : JR Pass
Traveling around Japan is quite easy with train both in city (by local train or subway) and between city (by Hi-Speed train or Shinkansen) If you are going to Japan and plan your trip to visit many city or many stops you will need JR Pass!!!
Why JR Pass?
You can rind unlimited times with JR, the most coverage train system in Japan) Local train, Shinkansen and Bus.
Where to get JR Pass?
Issue your JR Ticket at your local travel agency. JR Pass MUST issued outside Japan only. You may need Passport and Japan Tourist Visa to buy a ticket.
And then?
When you arrive Japan, find the JR Ticket office, show the officer your ticket and inform them what is your first date you will use JR Pass. You can do it in advance or on the date you want to use. After issue your Ticket you will get a JR Pass Ticket (a fold card).
And how to use the JR Pass (fold card)?
You can not use JR Pass (fold card) to pass the normal gate. Try to find the special gate with you will see an officer who's going to check your JR Pass, show them the date on the card and you can now boarding at the train.
Shinkansen?
Yes! but please make sure that you are on the right train. There are 3 type of Shinkansen; Nozomi, Hikari and Kodama. Your JR Pass only available for Hikari and Kodama. If you are not booking the seat on Shinkansen, you need to board in the "Non-reserve" train's cabin only.

Japan Culture : Mobile phone on the train.
Riding on the local train with Japanese in rush hours may be the interesting experience for those traveller who first visit to japan or even you have been in that rush hours you could be in a culture shock as well!
One thing that you can notice from boarding in the city train is you are asked to refrain from talking on the phone and turn on silent mode while on the train even turn it off when you are near a priority seat. In Bangkok I was annoyed by people talking on the phone in train too but we don't have to ask them to turn it off or refrain from talking. Many reasons that I think about this notice, may be to talking on the phone may annoy other people who need to listen to the announcement for next station. Because a train system in Tokyo very complicated and many routes that trains are crossing over in the same station. For that reason, you can see most of people always using their phone, send email, text, browsing website. Seem like everyone enjoying their own world on his/her mobile phone.
When you are always on the phone by texting or browsing even chatting in the most of time and it's happening in the place that many people can see your screen like on the train. One product that I've seen many people using was a screen protector. The protector film stick to your screen and only you can see the whole screen, others will see only blurry screen and can not see what are you doing!!! that's a good idea!!
