Number Portability : Dream never comes true in Thailand.

Yes, We are now in year of 2009. We went to the moon and back to earth and go to mars. We are moving to 3G and beyond. But in Thailand we are now struggling about technology which called Number Portability.

I just back from Singapore last week. During the visit to SG, was trying to gather all new information about telecommunication market in SG which grow so fast during few years. SG start its Mobile Number Portability since 1997, in the same time 1997 Thailand still busy about IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) which are locked by the operator till fews years after the lock of IMEI in Thailand was solved.

I've seen Singtel and M1 store provided a channel to "Re-contract" as well as on the website, you can re-contract your number with other operator. So you can use the same number whenever you want to change your phone, your plan or if you wanna get an iPhone you can still use your current number. All the thing to do is change it!

Thailand's mobile phone market reached 10 Million numbers this year, so far we are the biggest than any market in SEA, but we can't get through this easy problem. Heard about the government try to push this by the end of this year, just still no sign from them. My opinion, Number Portability will grow the market and let the operator run their marketing in a fair condition. Wish to see that happen soon.

Air Asia ซื้อ A350 XWB จำนวน 10 ลำ

ที่สุดของสายการบินโลว์คอส Air Asia ได้เซ็นสัญญาซื้อ A350 XWB จำนวน 10 ลำครับ (มูลค่า US$2.2 billion) เมื่อวันที่ 16 มิถุนายน 2552 ที่ผ่านมา จะเริ่มส่งมอบตั้งแต่ปี 2016 - 2018 ซึ่งทาง Air Asia จะนำมาใช้ในการบิน Long-haul และจะเป็นสายการบินราคาประหยัดรายแรกของโลกที่จะทำการบินแบบราคาประหยัดในระยะทางที่ไกลขึ้น ซึ่งเมื่อก่อนนั้นสายการบินราคาประหยัดได้ถูกให้คำจำกัดความว่าเป็นการบริการเที่ยวบินในระยะใกล้ๆเท่านั้น แต่ Air Asia ก็พิสูจน์แล้วว่าตลาดการบินและผู้โดยสารเปลี่ยนไปแล้ว การบินระยะไกล ในราคาประหยัดก็สามารถทำได้ โดยในปัจจุบันมี AirAsia X ที่บินจาก KL ไปยัง London ด้วย A330 แล้วครับ

สายการบินต้นทุนต่ำเจ้าอื่นๆก็พอจะมีให้เห็นบ้าง อย่างเส้นทางสิงคโปร์ - เมลเบิร์น ของ JetStar เป็นต้นครับ
